eugor.com is a personal website and blog published by me, Greg Donald. I’m currently a software engineer by day, and I live in the United States. I’ve been working in the software industry, professionally, for almost 30 years. It’s so weird being the same age as old people. I’ve worked on a wide variety of software projects in that time, including lots of web and mobile apps. I have extensive experience in lots of different programming languages: Perl, PHP, Ruby, Python, Java, and JavaScript, just to name a few.

The problem I’m currently solving for is that programming has gotten kind of boring lately. I’m trying to find new ways to make my day job more exciting and fun. I’m sure many readers will disagree, but for me I feel like there’s just not much new stuff to learn anymore when it comes to writing code. At this point I can pick up a new programming language or framework in a few days and then be fairly productive with it inside of another week.

I’m looking for new challenges and new ways to grow.

I’ve had an interest in cybersecurity and penetration testing for many years. I’ve been studying it off and on in that time. Not serious study though… I’ve half-heartily taken a few courses on the subject, and I’ve read the first few chapters of several books! I once even had a software engineering job at a cybersecurity company, but it was a pretty horrible company, and I didn’t stay long. It’s a little bit sad, I know :)

But now I’m serious about it. I’m going to learn everything I can about cybersecurity and penetration testing. I’m going to get certified. I’m going to get a job in the field. I’m going to become a cybersecurity professional.

And if I don’t, well then I’ll have had a lot of fun trying!

My plan at the moment is to blog here, about my journey. I’ll write about the things I’m learning, the things I’m doing, and the things I’m thinking about and planning to do next. I will also write about other things that interest me too, like programming, technology, and books.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you, if you have any advice or suggestions for me, or if you just want to say hello.
